UC Berkley Sociology Research Symposium

The Berkeley Undergraduate Sociology Association is sponsoring the First Annual UC Berkeley Sociology Research Symposium on Friday, April 24.

Now, the Symposium is accepting papers to be presented that are “sociological,” papers that deal with society, social issues, social policy, etc. For example, if you have done significant research in the rhetoric of contemporary political philosophy, your paper would be very appropriate to present at the Symposium.

Of course, the benefits of presenting are numerous. If you’re applying to graduate school, presenting a paper at a UC Berkeley conference will look rather shiny on applications. Even more, by presenting, you’ll have the opportunity to share your research with the larger UC Berkeley community.

Now, some of you may not want to present. You may just want to support your friends who are presenting. Or some of you may want to present next year and might find it helpful, this year, to check out the level of research that defines academic excellence among UC Berkeley’s undergraduates. Or, some of you may simply like the idea of a free lunch.

Yes, that’s right, lunch and a light breakfast will be provided and registration is free.

The acceptance of papers may be competitive depending on how many students submit (although, really, it probably will not be). And for those of you who are just looking to attend the Symposium, be sure to fill out the registration form ASAP because we’ll only be able to accommodate a certain number of students on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The deadline is Friday, March 13, and when you’re done filling out your registration form, please return it to 410 Barrows. Again, that’s 410 Barrows.

If you have any questions, you can always contact me, Aaron, at benzium2000@yahoo.com. Hope to see you there. Thanks!
